Dirk takes a small number of commissions at a time, so that each one gets the attention it should.
How it works

Tell him the idea
Write to the studio with what you have in mind. A character, a scene, a person, a feeling. It does not need to be worked out, that is his job.

He quotes it
You get a price and a timeline before anything starts. Price depends on size, medium and how much is in it. Nothing begins until you have said yes to a number.

Half up front
Half the price to begin, the rest when it is finished and you have seen it.

You see it as it happens
Progress photographs along the way. Changes are easier early, so this is when to speak up.

It ships signed
Packed properly and shipped insured. Framing can be arranged if you want it.
What it costs
Commission prices start around the cost of an original of a similar size. For reference, originals in the store run from $125 to $2,250 depending on scale and medium. Tell Dirk what you want and he will give you a real number rather than a range.
Convention sketches are a different thing entirely and are done at the table, on the day.
